Nikon Coolpix L100 no rechargeable batteries?

I have been debating on buying the Nikon Coolpix L100, but the only thing holding me back is the fact that it needs 4 AA batteries. It states that it does NOT take rechargeable batteries. Really is this true? Also, I found there is a firmware update that says that you can nowmake it take rechargeable batteries? http://www.dcviews.com/press/nikon-l100-…
